Privacy Policy

Who am I?

I’m Sarah (sarahvation.com) and I write on this blog! If you’re looking at this, you’re either just clicking through or making sure that I’m following the rules (I am, mostly. Well at least in terms of GDPR legislation and the FTC.)

The FTC? What’s that?

Well, good question – It stands for the Federal Trade Commission. It’s to ensure that, in their words “that “material connections” (sometimes payments or free products) between advertisers and endorsers connections that consumers would not expect – must be disclosed” so that’s what this page is for – It’s a privacy policy disclosing all the nits and grits about what happens on this blog, what information we collect, how we collect it and what we do about it. I say we, as in – WordPress.com (what my blog is on) and me, as well as any third party plugins that may be installed (which gets updated as they get installed.)

What do I collect?

Personally? Nothing. Although I do collect bank notes from Countries I’ve been too. Online, I do have access to your Name and Email via comments or if you subscribe to the blog and this is only used for interaction across WordPress. If you’re logged into the platform, data may be recorded. I will never disclose your information, nor will I send you spam/unofficial emails. Information may be kept for ongoing operations of the site. I’m pretty into privacy myself, so I’m pretty into your privacy too.

Other ways information is collected is through cookies, analytics and some third party embeds. Some plugins may also collect some personal data.

Personal Data.

Data reminds me of Excel spreadsheets but that’s not what I’m talking about. here.  I have access to statistics for sarahvation. This meansI can see how many views a page has, clicks to external/internal links and which countries have visited. Information logged by WordPress can gather Internet Protocol Addresses (IP) or Internet Service Providers (ISP), Types of browsers (Safari, Mozilla or if you’re old school – Internet Explorer.) Things like date and time stamps as well as referring and exit pages are things I also can see. When we say personal data, I cannot see specific personally identifiable data but a spectrum of analytics that tell me a little bit more about my readers (it’s mainly Australia, and it’s mainly me.)

Cookies

Oatmeal raisin cookies are not as good as choc chip, and this is from someone who likes sultanas.  WordPress and this blog can use cookies to store information about your preferences to record user-specific information on visits and page views to provide customer experience. Cookies are to store information about preferences and to record user-specific information on visits and pages the user views to provide a custom experience. You can of course always turn these off through your browser options. Just look up how to do it. If you’re leaving comments, you may have an option to save the data – this is for ease more than anything else. Those last around a year, unless you clear all cache/cookies. If you’ve got your own account, and you’re logged in, a cookie will see if your browser accepts cookies. This contains nada of personal data and automatically discards when you close down your browser.

Comments and Contact Forms.

Contact forms and Comments are purely for communication between parties and not for any personal data or marketing. Name and Email address is all that would be collected as well as an IP address to filter out junk and spam. Comments and Contact can also be utilised through the Gravatar service. They have their own service privacy policy here. If you make a comment and have a Gravatar profile, your information is accessible through that profile.

Adverts.

You’ll see some adverts on my blog, I constantly see the same ones online, probably because I’m super indecisive and I look at the same pages every week. Here, adverts appearing may be delivered by partners to you using cookies. Again, these can be disabled at any time. This allows us to recognize your computer and personalize advertisements about you or others who use your computer. This privacy does not cover the use of cookies by advertisers, only that of SarahVation.com.

Affiliates.

Sometimes I may link to affiliate pages – I will have a bracket (affiliate) to ensure that you’re super aware of which products I’ve popped a lil link in – this doesn’t cost you anything but, it can however, give me a percentage if you sign up through those. I still use those products and pay for them, however, I can sometimes get a discount as well which is kinda nifty. If you want to know more – please email me!

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, I may change our policy from time to time. Always check back for any changes and if you’re reading this blog I take it as acceptance of this disclaimer.
