Thessaloniki, the heart of Greece.

Hello Pals,
Thessaloniki is the second biggest city after Athens, yet it sees little tourism. It’s a tourists paradise – honestly. The amount of signs telling you the history of all the monuments, the sign posts telling you how many minutes to walk somewhere (some even have the amount of calories you’ll burn lmao!) and the amount of things you can see and do even on a budget!

I loved Thessaloniki, so i’m calling it ‘the heart of Greece.’. Delphi may be the centre, but Thessaloniki stole the heart. As our tour guild said; Thessaloniki is what it is hiding, not what it is showing.
The history of Thessaloniki is strong, in 1917 a fire left 70,000 people homeless and destroyed 9,500 houses. [2] It was a place that people called home, as nobody is without a home as long as Thessaloniki exists. The word you’ll read/hear the most is UNESCO – and you’ll surely see why by reading this, and when you visit.

Greece: Athens.

Hello Pals,
When discussing Athens, a lot of people seem to not like it. They don’t like it when they arrive, they leave after a few days and don’t let this massive city grow on them. Big cities enhance your feelings; there is too much processing. You need to stop, go to a cafe, people watch and take it easy.

Athens is full of great food, great people and great coffee! You just need to keep your wits, trust your guts and do some research before hand.

Day Trip: The Grampians

Hiya Pals,
While on a weekend getaway in Ararat, we spent a day in The Grampians.
Originally called Gariwerd, it was renamed in 1836 after the Grampian Mountains in Scotland. It spans 1,672.19 km (645.6 sqm), making it the fourth largest National Park in Victoria. Known for rich Indigenous respects as well as the natural mountainous range itself.

Melbourne: Coffee and Smashed Avo.

Hi Pals,
There was an article that came out in 2017 advising that the way us millennials (born: 1981-1996) aren’t able to buy houses, is a simple reason: Avocado On Toast. The article, “If you want a house, stop buying avocado toast” suggested that if we simply just stop eating out; we could have a deposit on a house (might also have to stop buying books and plane tickets.)
I mean, they could be right but I also love going out for brunch and I pretty much always order the smashed avo.

With that, Here are 7 Melbourne CBD Cafes that offer good smashed avocado and even better coffee.

Weekend Getaway: Ararat

Hiya Pals,
The rural city of Ararat is known as the gateway of the Grampians. It’s also a town that people simply pass by without a second thought. It was founded by the Chinese during the GoldRush times (1851 – c. 1914.) and sits upon the land of the traditional owners, the Djab Wurrung (soft language) people
Country Victoria has so many cities worth visiting, it just depends on what you’re after in a weekend away!

7 Solid Replacements to take in your Carry On.

Hi Pals,

Whether you’re going on a short or long trip – we’re all bound by the same, dare I say “annoying” airline rule of 100mls per carry-on.
Now if you’ve checked bags, it’s less of an issue because you’re more than likely to have your products in there. If you’re trying to save $$, have lost your bag too many times or just travel light – it can become a hassle.
Over the years, I’ve managed to create a pretty good list of things I can substitute so with that, click ‘read more’ to see a list of ways you can minimise your 100ml liquids.

Melbourne: The City Gardens.

Hi Pals,
Did you know that there are 480 hectares (1186.11 acres) of grassy green parks, each with public artworks, venues and unique features located in Melbourne? Sounds like some pretty common knowledge to me. Just whip that out next time you’re at trivia. Here are a few of my favourite Melbourne City parks to take a picnic to, listen to a podcast in or just go sit and read.

How to add guests to an Airbnb trip

Hi Pals,
I love AirBnb, and I especially love looking at all the fantastic homes people have. Recently, I was having issues adding guests on an upcoming trip.

So, just in case you’re also having issues; here’s how to add a guest to your Airbnb trip:

1. Go to Your Trips on airbnb.com.

2. Under the trip, click on “Show Trip Details”

3. Click on “Your home reservation.”

4. Scroll down until you see ‘Who’s coming’ and select Manage.

5. Enter the Guest Name and Email and click “Invite.”

Those guests will receive an email to accept the invite. Reviews will then be left on their profiles.

If you’ve never tried Airbnb and would like to earn $55 off your next trip, click here (affiliate.)
Happy Holidaying,
– Sarah.

Hi Pals,
Every year I try and read 20 books. This year, technically I cheated but that’s if you count the start and the end date (you do.) I didn’t count the finishing date for my last book. We can’t all be perfect in the GoodReads Reading Challenge!

Want to know more about all the books I read this year? Click ‘read more.’ All links simply go to Goodreads.com (non-affiliate.)
